Vascular Laser - Vbeam Perfecta

At Barkers Road Dermatology, we pride ourselves on offering treatments that combine advanced technology with specialist care. Vbeam perfecta is a highly effective laser system designed to target redness in the skin, helping patients with a range of conditions from birthmarks to rosacea.

What is Vbeam?

The Candela Vbeam is a pulsed-dye laser (PDL) designed to address visible redness and vascular changes in the skin. It produces a yellow-light wavelength using a specialised dye source, which is naturally drawn to the pigment inside your red blood cells, called haemoglobin. This allows the laser to selectively target vessels that contribute to flushing, rosacea-related redness, broken capillaries, and vascular birthmarks, while aiming to minimise impact on the surrounding tissue.

How does it work?

The Vbeam laser delivers short pulses of 595-nanometre (nm) light into the skin, targeting the red pigment inside the blood vessels. As the light converts to heat, it produces a controlled thermal response, causing the vessel to collapse and gradually clear through the body’s natural processes. Before each pulse, Dynamic Cooling technology sprays a cryogen to help protect the skin’s surface. Your clinician will adjust the energy levels and pulse duration based on your skin condition and the pattern of visible vessels.

What does treatment involve?

First, you’ll have a consultation with an experienced cosmetic nurse to understand your skin, assess the pattern of visible vessels, and determine whether Vbeam is the right treatment for you.

Depending on what we are treating, anywhere from 1-5 treatments will be required, separated by 4-6 weeks.

Each session is 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area.

  • Protective eyewear will be provided.

  • You may feel a brief warmth or light snap with each pulse.

  • Redness or swelling can follow and usually subsides within hours to a few days.

  • Cooling measures are applied during treatment to protect the skin.
